SAN DIEGO – Two drivers were killed when their cars collided Friday morning at an intersection across from Patrick Henry High School in San Carlos.
An 88-year-old woman in an eastbound Toyota Prius ran a red light at intersection of Navajo Road and Park Ridge Boulevard and crashed into a northbound Toyota Camry shortly after 6:30 a.m., San Diego police officer Frank Cali said.
She and the 76-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Camry were taken to hospitals, but both later died, according to the officer. Neither woman's name was immediately available.
Police officers subsequently closed the intersection for the investigation. It reopened a little after 11 a.m. Classes were not affected at Patrick Henry High.
