San Diego County gas price rises sharply again

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose 3.9 cents Saturday to $2.62, one day after increasing 4.5 cents.

The average price has risen 15 times in 16 days, increasing 28.6 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 12.3 cents higher than one week ago and 6.1 cents greater than one month ago.

However, the average price is 82.8 cents lower than one year ago because it fell 72.3 cents during a stretch of 49 decreases in 50 days that immediately preceded the run of rising prices.

The average price had dropped to its lowest amount since April 7, 2009, before the increases began.

The average price rose 10 consecutive days, was unchanged Monday and resumed increasing on Tuesday.
