SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Everyone is buzzing about a new concept bar at Westfield UTC in La Jolla called Raised by Wolves.

What may look like a liquor store from the outside transports guests though a secret passageway disguised as a fireplace and into a bar in the back.

The immersive environment is based on the tale of two Roman gods. “Raised By Wolves was inspired by the Roman gods Romulus and Remus. They were two brothers that were raised by a she wolf and went on to found the city of Rome, which is essentially like the cradle of modern-day civilization,” explains Chris Patino, partner at Raised By Wolves.

But that’s only half the story. “The other name stems from wolves themselves as creatures. Kind of one of the more misunderstood animals that exist, when in reality they’re extremely nurturing, they’re extremely caring, they’re loyal to a fault. So it’s kind of all the values we encompass here.”

The entire speakeasy is designed to look like something out of 19th century Europe. One of the bar’s most popular drinks is called the Island Old Fashion. Some of the ingredients used to make the drinks take a full day to craft.

Patino’s goal is to immerse people in the old-world environment. “You’re coming from a mall and you’re stepping through a door. We want to take you out of that mall and then put you into our own environment that we’ve created for you to enjoy cocktails and hospitality and each other your friends, family ect.”

Reservations are encouraged, but Raised by Wolves does accept walk-ins. For more information on the bar click here.
