LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Raiders’ move to Las Vegas highlights a growing trend – the entertainment capital of the world is becoming a destination for sports.

Vegas is home to tons of sports for a wide array of sports fans. From football and hockey to NASCAR and golf.

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the city is the number one contender for high-profile fights like UFC.

This fall, the PGA TOUR will make a stop in Las Vegas for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open October 2 through the 6.

“Between hockey, NASCAR, boxing and UFC, basketball, soccer and the highly anticipated arrival of professional football, Las Vegas has truly become the ultimate sports destination,” said H. Fletch Brunelle, vice president of marketing at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

All the sports action is building ahead of the Raiders’ debut in Las Vegas in 2020.

The team is slated to play in a $1.9 billion indoor stadium in the heart of the Las Vegas desert.
