In 1961, at the age of 19, John Galardi opened the first Wienerschnitzel restaurant in Wilmington, near the Port of Los Angeles. There are now 331 Wienerschnitzel restaurants in 10 U.S. states and Guam.

"We can't think of a better way to mark our 56th year of making food 'the Wienerschnitzel way' than with 56-cent dogs," said JR Galardi, executive vice president at Wienerschnitzel. "We're proud to celebrate the success that my father, John Galardi, started back in 1961. The only challenge for hot dog fans is choosing between the Mustard and Chili Dog."
