SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Special agents are getting ready to patrol the Rock n’ Roll marathon over the weekend. 10News got a close-up look at how they will keep everyone safe.

Special agents will work with K-9s. The K9’s are trained to stay with their handlers. They’re able to sniff out nearly 20,000 varieties of explosives.

Local and federal agents will sweep the marathon route before the race kicks off. They’ll stay until the last person crosses the finish line.

Agents want runners and spectators to speak up if they see anything suspicious. Agents will be in uniform and in plain clothes.
