SDSU warns campus after series of armed robberies

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State University is warning students and anyone who travel around the College Area to be aware of their surroundings, after several armed robberies have occurred in the area.

Police are investigating a series of armed robberies of people walking in the area over the past month. Campus police advised students Friday to remain alert, keep belongings safe, and to travel in groups when possible.

SDSU has more than 170 emergency blue light phones that will connect callers directly to campus police. The university's "Aztec Shield" mobile app allows users to connect with the police department and request safety escorts.

San Diego Police are currently investigating the robberies.
