CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A middle school student was arrested this week for selling marijuana gummy bears to classmates.

Several Bonita Vista Middle School students knowingly purchased the marijuana gummy bears on Wednesday, according to Chula Vista Police. The students that purchased and ingested the gummy bears became ill.

Police said ambulances were called to the school to treat those students and they were later released to their parents.

The student who sold the gummy bears was arrested. Police said they will be prosecuted by the San Diego District Attorney's office as a juvenile. Their name was not released since they are a juvenile.

Bonita Vista Middle School did not indicate if any actions against the students who purchased the candy would be taken.

The school district said only the parents of the students involved were notified because it was an isolated incident.
