IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. – Deputies are seeking a man with face and neck tattoos who reportedly attempted to snatch an 11-year-old boy off an Imperial Beach street.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reports an 11-year-old boy was riding a scooter at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on 13th Street and Fern Avenue when two men in a royal blue Ford F-250 reportedly pulled over and tried to get the boy into the vehicle.

The passenger exited the truck and attempted to grab the boy. However, the boy said the suspect grabbed ahold of the boy's backpack, so he took it off and ran to a nearby relative's home, uninjured.

While unable to recall the license plate of the vehicle, the boy was able to provide a detailed description of the passenger.

Deputies released a sketch of that suspect, described as a white man, 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, with slicked back salt-and-pepper hair and a large salt-and-pepper mustache. He had two distinct visible tattoos. The first, an eye in the middle of the man's forehead. The second, a skull in the middle of his throat.

There was no description of the driver available at this time.

Deputies are unsure where the suspect fled to after the attempted kidnapping. The suspect in the sketch is not known to the boy.

If you recognize the man in this sketch, call the sheriff's department at 858-974-5200.
