SAN DIEGO -- Police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run that left a Chargers intern with a critical head injury and another young man with a minor injury to his forehead.

Omar Gutierrez, 24, was taken into custody at his work Tuesday afternoon in connection with the hit-and-run, which happened August 5 at 900 Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach.

Police believe Guitierrez intentionally ran over the victims. He is facing three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of destruction of evidence.

San Diego Chargers intern J'Ron Erby, 23, ended up with swelling and bleeding to his brain following the crash and was hospitalized for an extended time. He is now at home in the Bay Area recovering.

Another young man who was with him, 25-year-old Kendrick Hester, ended up with a large cut on his forehead.

Police say this remains an ongoing investigation and they would like anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
