Can't Miss San Diego: Things to do Aug. 18 - 20

(KGTV) - There's plenty to do this weekend in San Diego!

From Oceanside to Chula Vista, "fests" can be found around the county.

The International Mariachi Gala Concert returns to San Diego to benefit youth scholarships and celebrate world-class mariachi music. Bluegrass music and barbecue will be served up in Vista this weekend as well, during the Summergrass festival.

Harbor Fest in Chula Vista also returns will a slate of family fun activities at Bayside Park and Ferragosto 2017 is giving Little Italy a western twist this weekend.

Here's a look at some fun events you won't want to miss:

San Diego International Mariachi Summit Gala Concert at San Diego Civic Center - Friday

Mariachi music takes center stage at the San Diego Civic Center, featuring world-class music by Ballet Folklórico Internacional, Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán, Symphonic Mariachi Champaña Nevin, the Orquesta de Baja California, and the San Diego Binational Symphony Orchestra. Proceeds will benefit the Mariachi Scholarship Foundation. More information.

Latin Food Fest at Embarcadero Park - Friday and Saturday

Latin Food Fest will hit Embarcadero Park, treating guests to delicious food and drink from some of the most talented local and celebrity chefs around. More than 100 food and drink stations will be set up for attendees, surrounded by live music and dancing, and cooking demonstrations. More information.

Summergrass San Diego Bluegrass Festival in Vista - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Summergrass will celebrate the history and sounds of bluegrass music at the historic Antique Gas & Engine Museum in Vista. Guests will enjoy their fill of delicious barbeque and more while jamming out to seasoned and up and coming bands. More information

 

Ferragosto 2017 at Amici Park in Little Italy - Saturday

Little Italy is celebrating Ferragosto with some western flair this year. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best west garb, while enjoying cocktails, a Western-style BBQ, casino, rodeo, live entertainment and more. Proceeds benefit youth scholarships and the historical preservation of Little Italy. More information.

One Love 6th Annual Charity Yoga event at San Diego Waterfront Park - Saturday

Jump in to a massive yoga class and enjoy a beer and wine garden afterward, all benefiting local San Diego charities. Children and adults are welcomed. More information.

Harbor Fest Chula Vista at Bayside Park - Saturday

Harbor Fest will pack three stages of live entertainment, unlimited taco and craft beer tastings, and more into Bayside Park. Families will enjoy countless activities along the harbor, a Discovery Zone, a classic car show, and more. More information.

TwainFest in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park - Saturday

Celebrate Mark Twain and other 19th century writers during this free event in Old Town. Puppet shows, music, games, and readings of literary works by San Diego actors, and a costume contest and parade will entertain families. More information.

41st Annual World Bodysurfing Championships in Oceanside - Saturday and Sunday

About 350 to 400 body surfers will compete this weekend at Oceanside Pier for bragging rights in the annual Bodysurfing World Championships. Come down and enjoy North County's coastline while cheering on competitors. More information.

BBQ State Championship at Del Mar Fairgrounds - Sunday

More than 40 of the nation's top barbecue pitmasters, local chefs, and professionals will compete for more than $15,000 in prizes at the Del Mar Fairgrounds this weekend. Guests will get to pair award-winning BBQ with craft beer and vote for their favorites. Entry is free with track admission. More information.

40th Annual America's Finest City Half Marathon at Cabrillo National Monument - Sunday

The third and final race in San Diego's Half Marathon Triple Crown series begins in Point Loma, taking runners along San Diego Bay, through downtown San Diego, and ending at Balboa Park. Come cheer on runners and take in San Diego's beautiful scenery. More information.
