(KGTV) – The Los Angeles Chargers will hit the field for the 2020 season with new threads that recall the franchise’s early years.
The team unveiled its new uniforms Tuesday via an online presentation on www.chargers.com/uniforms/ and with this statement:
“We evolved it, simplified it, took what YOU loved about it, and made it even better.
Quintessentially Southern California, the Chargers are relaunching what is very much an aspirational brand. Drawing inspiration from California in the 1960's, we set up shop with Nike and the NFL to modify a classic. Staying true to Powder Blue and Sunshine Gold, we brought both colors to the forefront of the uniforms as a reflection of our diverse, outdoor culture. Whether it's a Sunday cruising down the Venice Boardwalk or taking in the sights and sounds at the Olvera Street Marketplace, there's an unmistakable energy that's unique to Los Angeles. And while it's not easy to reflect a vibe in uniforms, we set out to do just that with a bold, vibrant, and electric update that pays tribute to our AFL roots.”

The Bolts will have two home uniforms, two road uniforms, and two Color Rush alternate uniforms. The team is keeping its signature powder blue, but two noticeable updates include a more defined lightning bolt on the jersey and pants, as well as uniform numbers on the white helmets.
The team formerly known as the San Diego Chargers said this about the new uniforms: “We took the best uniforms in the NFL and made them better.”
