SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - When San Diego High School senior Amara Muhammad takes the track, she is used to running out front.
She excels in the 100 and 200 meters which is not surprising, considering her family background. Her aunt just happens to be two-time Olympic gold medalist Monique Henderson
"My aunt helped me a lot and was a big inspiration for me growing up. Both she, my mom, and my other aunt are track fans. For this my senior year, they've loved me and supported me."
Amara and her Caver teammates were looking to have a successful season this year when coronavirus put and end to that plan. Amara calls the halt to the spring season very unfortunate.
"I'm pretty disappointed the season was cut short. I didn't get to participate much last year when I was injured. this This year I was coming in as one of the top ranked runners, but I know that our health and safety are hat is most important."
