SAN DIEGO – A car smashed through the front doors of a pizza shop in Rancho San Diego late Sunday night.

The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. at That’s Amore Pizza in the 2400 block of Jamacha Road.

According to California Highway Patrol officers at the scene, a female driver meant to hit the brake pedal, but instead pushed down on the accelerator, sending the car crashing through the front of the shop. Alcohol and drugs did not contribute to the crash, CHP said.

The driver and a female passenger in the car were not hurt. The shop is closed on Sundays, and there was no one inside at the time.

It was not immediately clear if the driver would be cited. A financial estimate of the damage to the store was not confirmed.
