An elderly woman who has Alzheimer's disease and went missing Monday was found safe around 7 p.m. in Encinitas, according to police.

Police said 76-year-old Mary Agnes Madden was believed to have walked out of her home in the 200 block of Chinquapin Ave. Monday between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Madden, who goes by "Aggie," has early stages Alzheimer's. According to police, she "knows her name but not necessarily her address."

Madden is described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall, and 150 pounds with a medium build. She has blue eyes and shoulder-length straight gray hair.

It is not known what kind of clothing she was wearing when she left her home, but police said Madden usually wears black and wears 6-7 rings.
