SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of drunk driving in a Spring Valley crash that sent her and her three children to the hospital.

California Highway Patrol officers confirmed the crash happened just after 3 a.m. on Bancroft Drive, near Koonce Drive.

Officers said 25-year-old Grace Esparza was driving the Toyota Tacoma pickup and lost control of the vehicle, hitting a fence and the concrete wall in front of a house.

Esparza's 7-year-old daughter was in the front seat, and her 3-year-old daughter and 5-month-old son were in the back seat.  The older girl suffered major injuries, including a cut on her spleen that required surgery, said officials. The younger girl had minor cuts on her head and face and the baby was not hurt, said officers.

The older children were not wearing seat belts and the infant's car seat was not properly installed, according to the CHP.

The children are being treated at Rady Children's Hospital.

Esparza suffered broken vetebrae and a broken nose, according to CHP officer Benjamin Demarest.

A car parked in the driveway was damaged by flying debris.
