CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle as she stood on a Chula Vista street Sunday night, police said.
The collision happened just after 10 p.m. in the 3600 block of Main Street, according to Chula Vista police.
According to police, a witness told officers the woman was "standing in the roadway and away from any marked or unmarked crosswalk" when she was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Main Street.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene.
Police said the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision.
The cause of the incident is being investigated by Chula Vista police's Traffic Division.
