SAN DIEGO - Authorities are searching for a woman who fired several shots into a pickup truck early Thursday morning in the Jamacha community of east San Diego County.
The incident happened at 2:20 a.m. when San Diego County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call about a road rage confrontation in the area of Jamacha Road and Hilton Head Place in which several gunshots were fired.
Deputies arrived at the scene and found a pickup truck with its windows shot out. The driver was unhurt.
The driver told deputies a suspect vehicle followed him aggressively until he pulled over. A man and woman got out of the suspect vehicle and confronted the truck's driver. After a short argument, he claims he got back into his truck and tried to drive away. That is when the woman pulled out a gun and fired several shots at his truck.
Deputies received varying witness accounts that described the suspect vehicle as either a white SUV or a black sedan. During a search of the area, they found a white Mercedes SUV that seemed to match the description of the suspect vehicle in a nearby apartment complex. Investigators also located several shell casings about two blocks from the apartment complex.
At around 6 a.m., four people were detained and questioned by deputies, but later released, the sheriff's department said.
Investigators are trying to determine if the incident was in fact road rage-related or if the pickup truck's driver was specifically targeted.
No suspects have been identified.
