(KGTV) - A microburst sent umbrellas flying, overturned boats and interrupted Amtrak traffic along the beach in Santa Barbara Sunday.

An 80-mile-an-hour gust of wind and heavy rains reached the coast about 3 p.m., KABC reported.

The Santa Barbara City Fire Department said 56 people were tossed into the water.

Lifeguards, Harbor Patrol officers, and citizens jumped in to help, according to KEYT.

A large eucalyptus tree fell on railroad tracks and interrupted Amtrak train traffic.
