SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man driving in a dangerous manner in Ocean Beach was arrested thanks to the help of cell phone video.
Video captured by A. Lowe and exclusively provided to 10News shows a driver trying to force his car between a sea wall and some signs on a sidewalk, causing some people to confront the driver and others to jump out of the way.
"He had that look in his eye. Kind of staring off into space not really focused on what he was doing," said A. Lowe. "People were like getting out of the way, and actually, in the video, you can see they pulled a cooler out of the way right before that. Someone lifted up an elderly woman and put her on the ledge of the sea wall, and that's when he ripped through there and ran over the pole and cut out into the road. It was pretty intense for sure. Me and my friends were like freaking out for like an hour afterwards."
A. Lowe said putting people in danger like that doesn't have a place in the community.
"He had Pennsylvania license plates so he definitely wasn't from OB … Go party somewhere else maybe, or party responsibly, you know," A. Lowe told 10News.
With the help of the video and a photo of the license plate, police arrested the driver a short time later.
The driver faces DUI and hit-and-run charges, police said.
