SAN DIEGO - Veterans Day is a day to honor all who have served and there are many local events around town where the community will be saying 'thank you' to our armed forces.
Veterans Day Celebration aboard the USS Midway
Event will include entertainment, children's activities and a world record attempt by 'The Plank Man,' George Hood. Begins at 10 a.m. at 910 N. Harbor Drive.
30th Annual San Diego Veterans Day Parade
Parade will begin at 11 a.m. at North Harbor Drive in front of the County Administration Center and continue to Pacific Highway at G Street.
Veterans Day Observance in Chula Vista
The city of Chula Vista is hosting the event (which will include a wreath placement, color guard and guest speakers) at the Memorial Park Bowl at 373 Park Way. The observance begins at 11 a.m.
Salute at the Del Mar Racetrack
At 11 a.m., veterans will be honored with a salute as the racetrack opens its fall racing season.
Veterans Ceremony in El Cajon
The city of El Cajon will honor veterans at 1 p.m. at Centennial Plaza, located at 200 Civic Center Way. The event will include the presentation of colors and music.
