SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man opened fire inside his University City home Monday morning after discovering an intruder had entered the house.
The incident happened just before 4 a.m. at a home on Via Pasear, according to San Diego police.
The homeowner and his dog were sleeping when they heard noises. The homeowner said he woke up to find a stranger in the house with a flashlight on.
According to police, the intruder ran to the front door when the homeowner grabbed a gun and fired three shots in that direction. It is unknown if the intruder was hit by any bullets, and police are checking hospitals to see if anyone checked in with a gunshot wound.
Police said the intruder was able to get away with tools and other items.
A description of the intruder was not immediately provided.
