CANOGA PARK, Calif. (CNS) - Los Angeles Firefighters Tuesday morning helped a woman climb down from a tree in Canoga Park about 11 hours after she was discovered in the tree.

The woman had been in the 30-foot tree in the 21800 block of West Lanark Street at least since about 7:30 p.m. Monday, when the Los Angeles Fire Department received a report about her and dispatched firefighters to the scene.

Firefighters set up an air bag at the bottom of the tree, Los Angeles Police Department officers were notified.

About 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, the woman climbed down, assisted by firefighters using a ladder. It was unclear why she was in the tree. The woman reportedly was being referred for a mental evaluation.
