SAN DIEGO – Authorities are searching for suspects who attempted to break into two Sprint cell phone stores about 30 minutes apart early Tuesday morning.

The attempted break-ins occurred between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. According to San Diego police, the first attempt occurred at a store at 255 Marketplace Ave. in Mountain View. The suspects threw sparks plugs at the windows, shattering them. However, once inside the store, they were unable to get through the back door to reach some of the more expensive products. They left without stealing anything, police said.

About 30 minutes later, a break in occurred at a Sprint store at 8440 Rio San Diego in Mission Valley. In that case, the suspects tried to use spark plugs to break the windows, but were unsuccessful, only damaging the window.

Police are investigating. There was no immediate description of the suspects.
