Thieves steal woman's car, twice

Posted
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Criminals stole a San Diego woman's car, not once, but twice, from where she parked it at The Orchard Senior Living Apartments.

Cam Jacobs says she lost her keys a few days ago and thinks someone found them on the ground and used her keys to find her bright red 2015 Ford Fiesta and steal it.

“You got to be really careful in this day and age," Jacobs said. "I never would have thought this would happen to me.”

San Diego police found her car in a nearby Denny's parking lot a few hours later.

Jacobs says officers wanted to impound the car, but she was worried about the cost. She went to call a tow truck instead, and by the time she got back, the car was gone again.

“It made me feel like a fool," she said. "That I hadn’t listened, the police officer told me don’t leave it here, they could come back out and take it. And they did.”

Jacobs says her front license plate number is crumpled from an accident she was in. She doesn't remember her license plate number but is working to get it from the DMV.

If you think you see the car, call 911.
