A Coronado businessman is giving a thief a chance to return his American flag before he shares video of the theft all over the web.
Derik Mundt said the now-missing flag has flown in that spot outside the UPS Store on Orange Avenue for 30 years.
"It's just been passed down from owner to owner," said Mundt. "You doubt what people are really thinking about; taking the American flag down from in front of your store."
Mundt said he usually takes the flag down every night, but he has left it out all night long recently.
"I've been leaving it out every day thinking that maybe people can see it and feel a little more American," he said.
Mundt wanted it to balance out all the negative news across the country.
"I'm really mad, you know. It's more I want the flag back," said Mundt.
Mundt said he has security cameras all over his store and they may have captured the theft.
However, he won't look at the video until he gives the thief a chance to return the flag. He promises to spread the video online if the flag is not returned.
