An 18-year-old man was allegedly shot by a 21-year-old man he had been fighting with a house party in the Grant Hill community of San Diego, a police officer said Sunday.

The shooting victim, suffering from a gunshot to the chest and arm, was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

The 18-year-old man was standing outside a house party in the 2600 block of Island Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he got into a fight with the 21-year-old man, Heim said.

The fight was broken up and they were separated. A few minutes later, the 21-year-old man returned and started shooting at the victim, he said.

"The victim was picked up by someone and driven to the hospital, where he has life-threatening injuries," he said. "San Diego police gang detectives are investigating."

Heims said he had no other immediate information.
