VALLEY CENTER, Calif. -- A two-vehicle collision in Valley Center left one man dead and a second driver injured Monday night.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Lilac Road and Candle Way at approximately 11 p.m.
According to California Highway Patrol, a Honda According traveling east on Lilac Road began to drift into the shoulder. The driver overcorrected and slid into the westbound lanes, where the Accord was T-boned by an oncoming Toyota 4-Runner.
The Accord’s driver, a 24-year-old Fontana man, died at the scene. The SUV’s driver, a 38-year-old Valley Center resident, was taken to Palomar Medical Center with minor injuries. No names were released.
Lilac Road was closed for several hours while CHP investigated the scene and tow trucks removed the vehicles.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
