San Diego Police SWAT officers had an apartment building surrounded Saturday afternoon after a man called 911 and threatened to commit suicide.  The unidentified man called 911 shortly after 10 a.m. and told the dispatcher he wanted to commit suicide at an apartment in the 4400 block of Quince Street.

Neighbors reported hearing at least one gunshot in the area since the phone call.  Patrol officers called in the SWAT team when no one answered the apartment door.

Surrounding streets in the area of 45th Street and Quince Street were closed, but there was no word on whether the apartment building had been evacuated.

Around 1:30 p.m. SWAT officers entered the home and found the man took his own life.
