A mom in El Cajon is hoping surveillance videos will help catch the thief who ransacked her car.

"At first, I thought I had just misplaced my wallet," said Cassandra Winfield, a mother of seven.

Winfield said she was coming home from grocery shopping with her kids one night last week when she accidentally left her wallet in her unlocked car. The following morning, her surveillance cameras showed a man rifling through the front and back of her car. The video shows the guy putting the wallet in his backpack.

Winfield said that at least one of her neighbors on Flag Lane also had belongings stolen from their car.

"I kind of got like chills, and was just like scared, couldn't believe it happened," said Winfield.

Winfield said her car payment was due that day, and she told 10News she had more than $300 in the wallet. In addition to the cash, she said she had her late grandmother's wedding ring in the car because she was planning to get it sized.

"It creeps me out; I feel like I had to sterilize my car something afterwards. I felt violated," Winfield said.
