A 54-year-old man allegedly assaulted a victim Wednesday during an attempted carjacking in Lemon Grove and remains at large.
The suspect has been identified as Dexter Prewitt, who remains outstanding, according to Sgt. Kelly Moody of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The attempted carjacking and assault occurred about 3:15 p.m. in the 7900 block of Broadway, Moody said.
The victim sustained a cut arm, he said.
"Deputies and detectives responded to the scene and established a perimeter around the area the suspect was last seen and began a building and property search," Moody said, but Prewitt was not found.
Prewitt is described as black, about 6 feet tall with salt-and-pepper hair. He was wearing a faded yellow polo-style shirt, faded jeans and white tennis shoes when last seen.
"It is not believed that Prewitt is armed at this time, but (he) can be `assaultive,"' Moody said.
Anyone who sees him should not attempt to make contact, but instead call the sheriff's department at 858-565-5200.
