CHULA VISTA — Between 30-300 students at Southwestern College are expected to protest the election of Donald Trump Thursday afternoon.

A Facebook event created for the demonstration stated the following:

This is the time my fellow brothers and sisters to unite and fight against a system that has elected a racist, xenophobic, transphobic, bigot. While his election might not worry some, it worries me because his election is opening doors for some of the worst people in this country. People are legitimately scared and it's up to us to stand up and fight against this. We cannot let the people that we love live in fear.

This will be a peaceful protest.

Abigail Flores, a third year film major, organized the protest.

"I've organized this protest in order to not only stand against something, stand against the fact that Trump was elected. Also everything that comes along with the fact he was elected. All the hat crimes that have been popping up through San Diego, throughout the country" she said. "The fact that people feel fear when walking outside. What if today someone comes up to me and decides that this is my last day?"
