ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) - Former NFL player Kellen Winslow Jr., the son of legendary Chargers tight end Kellen Winslow, was arrested and booked for residential burglary on Thursday, authorities said.

Around 2:39 p.m., a resident called the San Diego County Sheriff's Department to report a possible burglary at the Park Encinitas Mobile Home Park on El Camino Real.

The resident told 10News she heard a loud vehicle pull up outside her home and looked out to see a black Hummer. The man inside got out and walked toward her neighbor's home, then went inside, likely through an open sliding-glass door. The woman said the man was inside about 10 minutes before he left, carrying the t-shirt he had been wearing.

"I confronted him and said 'Hi, can I help you with anything'," she told reporter Jim Patton. "He said, 'Nope, just looking for my dog.' I go, 'What dog?' and he said, 'Well, it's a red dog, Clifford.' and I went, 'There's no dog here.' I said, I'm not comfortable with this, you need to leave. And he just stood there and he went, 'Alright then.'"

The woman said the man's demeanor was calm the entire time and after their exchange, he drove away.  She says the home he entered was occupied by at least one elderly woman who never knew the man was there.

Deputies checked the area and located a matching SUV in a strip mall parking lot on El Camino Real. They arrested Winslow Jr., the driver, who the woman positively identified as the person who had been in the home.

The 34-year-old was arrest for residential burglary and booked into custody at the Vista Detention Facility. Winslow Jr. posted a $50,000 bail early Friday morning.

Anyone with information related to this incident can call the North Coastal Patrol Station at (760) 966-3500, or the Sheriff's Communication Center at (858) 565-5200.

Winslow Jr. was a high school football star in San Diego before enrolling at the University of Miami.
