LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Rescuers worked in pitch black conditions Friday night to rescue eight hikers trapped by high tide.
Lifeguards said the hikers were trapped by the cliffs when the tide came in and cut them off on both sides. Lifeguards swam out to stay with them until the tide goes out and they can get the hikers to safety.
The hikers reportedly made it back safely with help from lifeguards around midnight once the tide went down.
