Students at Mesa College are frightened after a bold sexual assault took place on campus Tuesday.

A woman said a man came out of the bushes, pulled her by her hair, pinned her against a trash can, bit her neck and then tried to remove her pants.

The woman was able to fight him off, but he got away.

The incident happened on an access road leading from the library to Mesa College Circle.

Campus police said the suspect was described as an Hispanic man between 5 foot 10 to 5 foot 11 with a muscular build. They said he has disheveled brown hair, dark eyes and  long face with pock marks around his cheeks. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark jeans.

They are advising students to be extra vigilant and aware of their surroundings.

If you have any information you are asked to report it to Mesa College Police, San Diego Police or Crime Stoppers.
