OCEAN BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Three friends took their support group to a Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day.  The trio survived the violent shooting during a country music concert in Las Vegas are still recovering weeks after the attack.

“It’s just another time for us to be together with our friends celebrating today and celebrating life and just being thankful for that,” said Jason Zabala, who attended the Route 91 music festival October 1st.

“I am eternally grateful that I lived, that I made it through,” said clinical psychologist Shiva Ghaed.

Ghaed organized support group meetings shortly after returning to San Diego.

“It’s really important for people to stay connected,” she said.

Zabala joined Taylor Winston in Ocean Beach for some pick-up flag football Thanksgiving morning. Ghaed watched from the sidelines.

“The last few weeks when we haven’t been sleeping, when we haven’t felt comfortable at home, these are the people who’ve been with us,” said Zabala. “We’re thankful. We’ve got our friends here.”
