SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two moms tell 10News a purse snatcher is targeting people at a Scripps Ranch Park - smashing into cars and stealing their personal belongings while they're with their children at the park.

The moms think the thieves knew what they were doing when they smashed the windows of two cars parked next to each other at Miramar Overlook Park.

The doors were locked and their purses weren't visible. The thieves smashed the windows and reached to the floor to get what they were after.

Linda Hammersley was at the park with her three kids, celebrating her niece's first birthday.

"Middle of the day, in a really nice park, upscale neighborhood," she said. "Never thought this would have happened."

"My little one was terrified, we were walking back and all of a sudden we see it she was like, 'no mommy, no,' and she's freaking out," Hammersley said.

Her wallet, cash and credit cards were gone when she got back to the car.

Within an hour the stolen credit cards were used at four different places.

"So I also have a heart condition, and all my meds were in there, so that's missing, and that's needed, very much needed," Hammersley said.

Detectives are looking into this-trying to find the person responsible.
They're hoping surveillance video at the stores will help.
