SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A propane tank exploded in the backyard of a home on the 5000 block of Dwight Street on Thursday evening, sparking a fire that spread through the grass and into the home itself.

Fire crews arrived at the scene of the fire around 7:00 p.m. and worked for about 40 minutes to put out the fire.

The Red Cross also responded to the fire to tend to the five adults that evacuated the home.

A spokesperson for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department estimated $200,000 of structural damage and $100,000 damage to the contents of the family home.
