Police, K-9 pursue, capture man in Emerald Hills

Posted

Reports of men drinking alcohol in a park near children who were playing turned into a chase Sunday afternoon in Emerald Hills near the 94 Freeway.

While approaching the men, police thought one of them had a weapon. That man then fled the scene, leading officers into a ravine where a police K-9 eventually found and ferreted the man out.

During the search for the man, the northbound Euclid Avenue on the east side of the 94 freeway was closed, causing traffic delays in the area.

The ravine where the man was located was south of the 94 Freeway.

A police officer was transported to an urgent care facility to have a bite on his arm checked out. It wasn't clear if the bite came from the police dog or the suspect.

Police have not yet said if the man had a weapon.
