National City Police arrest man on suspicion of murder

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) - National City Police arrested a man on suspicion of murder Sunday after shootings and a standoff at an apartment complex.

Officers said they arrested 24-year-old Alejandro Robles on one count of murder and several weapons and drug charges for the incident on East 8th St.

Police recovered a significant amount of cocaine and marijuana and three semi-automatic handguns. 

National City Police, SWAT officers and firefighters responded to the call of a person being shot before 10 a.m. Saturday.

Police believed an armed individual had barricaded himself inside the apartment.  Officers surrounded the home until 5:30 p.m., when an injured man walked out.

A search of the apartment led to the discovery of a second victim, according to National City Police.

Officers said two other people were shot and taken to the hospital.

Michael Sandoval was transported to UC San Diego Hospital and has not been charged with a crime. 

Robles is being held in San Diego County jail.

The names of the two deceased individuals have not yet been released.
