A mother opossum is in recovery after she was found stuck to the spikes of a chain link fence Saturday.
It's not clear if the opossum slipped or if her belly was snagged by the wire prongs of the fence, but county animal control says the metal was twisted inside her abdomen.
She and the seven babies in her pouch were trapped and couldn’t move to safety until a concerned citizen called County Animal Services to free her.
The wire prongs have been removed from the mother opossum’s body and she’s now on the mend. Once she’s fully recuperated, the mother and her babies will be released back into the same general area where she was found.
