Mission Valley bus stop makes list of nation's worst

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A former San Diego bus stop has the dubious honor of competing for America’s Sorriest Bus Stop Wednesday on Streetsblog.com.

The website features a photo of the location on Mission Center Rd. at Sevan Ct. surrounded by brush. There is no seat and no shelter.

The Streetsblog.com reader who submitted the bus stop noted its position on a busy road with speeding drivers, no sidewalk and no crosswalk nearby.

"I heard it was nominated for the most dangerous bus stop in the country and I have to support that nomination!" said one transit rider. "There's no place for people to stand, often people on the bus are elderly and these elderly patrons are standing in the mud."
10News Reporter Amanda Brandeis reached out to the Metropolitan Transit Service, which removed the location from its list of stops in April. The sign indicating it was a bus stop was removed two days ago and replaced with a notice to passengers, said the MTS. The stop has been around since the 1990's.

Still, a passenger who was not able to read English waited at the bus stop Wednesday. She was picked up by a bus on the route. The MTS said it will continue a grace period for passengers for a few weeks.
