SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two men required assistance from lifeguards Monday after jumping from Sunset Cliffs into the ocean.
San Diego Lifeguards Lt. Andy Lerum said the two men in their mid-20s jumped into the water at about 11 a.m.
A short time later, someone called 911 and reported the two men had difficulty getting out of the water. Lerum said the men could not get out due to the cold temperature and swift water movement.
When lifeguards arrived at the scene, both men had gotten themselves out but needed to be evaluated.
Lerum said both men suffered minor scrapes and bruises.
According to Lerum, it has not been determined if the men would be cited for illegally jumping from the cliffs.
Lerum told reporters Sunset Cliffs has been identified on social media as a popular place to jump into the ocean. He warned beachgoers, especially with Memorial Day weekend approaching, that fines will be issued for anyone caught jumping from the cliffs.
