SAN DIEGO - A man was hospitalized Thursday after being stabbed during a fight in front of a Gaslmap Quarter nightclub.
The incident happened shortly before 2:45 a.m. outside of Area 51 on Fifth Avenue, according to police.
The father of a woman at the club told 10News that prior to the fight, the victim tried to get his daughter and a friend to go to the club, but they refused.
According to the father, the victim took his daughter's phone and punched her friend in the face.
The father told 10News others ran in to help, but someone ended up stabbing the man. He is now in surgery, 10News learned.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
