ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - Amid the chaos of the West Fire, one family was forced to evacuate in less than 15 minutes.
They were unable to take many belongings, not to mention their 4th of July decorations.
But despite the fast moving fire, a neighbor spotted their American flag blowing in the wind. He managed to grab it off their roof and took it for safe keeping.
The day after, the neighbor returned with the flag. 10News was there as the family placed it back on the roof of their burned home.
