SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for a driver who plowed into a man jaywalking across University Avenue in Hillcrest Thursday evening.
San Diego police said the victim, who appeared to be homeless, was hit near Richmond Street, in front of a Starbucks store. The vehicle fled the scene after the incident.
The victim suffered serious injuries to his leg, according to police.
No one witnessed the crash, but some people heard it and saw the victim lying in the street, according to police. Bystanders stayed with the wounded man until paramedics arrived.
As of early Friday morning, a description of the vehicle involved has not been made available.
