SAN DIEGO – A man waiting for an Uber ride with a group of people was robbed and beaten early Thursday morning by two armed suspects in Pacific Beach.

The attack occurred across from a Denny’s restaurant at Garnet Avenue and Mission Boulevard at around 1:30 a.m.

According to a San Diego police sergeant, two men and two women were waiting for an Uber when a pickup truck pulled up and two men inside the truck began talking to the group. Eventually, the two men exited the truck and robbed the two men of their wallets, police said.

During the robbery, one of the men took out a gun and pistol whipped one of the robbery victims in the face. Both suspects then jumped back into their truck and fled east on Garnet.

San Diego police are investigating.
