BOULEVARD (CNS) - A man was killed in a solo car crash in unincorporated eastern San Diego County on Friday night, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.
The CHP received a report of a vehicle that overturned on eastbound Interstate 8 near the McCain Valley Road exit in the community of Boulevard at 8:41 p.m. Friday, said CHP Officer Mary Bailey.
A man was airlifted to a hospital about an hour later at 9:30 p.m. The CHP was informed about 3:30 a.m. Saturday that the person was pronounced dead at the hospital, Bailey said.
The victim's name and age were not released.
The cause of the accident was unknown, but Bailey said the crash was initially reported to dispatchers as the result of a tire blowout.
