SAN DIEGO - A man was allegedly stabbed by his neighbor while investigating noises outside of his Rancho Penasquitos home, 10News learned.
Several neighbors told 10News they heard noises near Socorro Street and Andorra Way around 10:20 p.m. Resident Alex Dominguez decided to check out the area.
According to neighbors, Dominguez saw three suspicious men lurking near some cars. Dominguez pursued them, but when he caught up to the trio, one of the men stabbed him in his side.
Police officers arrived shortly afterward and took the suspected attacker, 30-year-old Jared Secrist, into custody.
Mike and Yuki Hall, who live two homes away from where Dominguez was stabbed, were shocked by the violent encounter.
"It leaves me speechless," said Yuki Hall.
Mike Hall stressed his neighborhood has been very safe since the couple moved in last year.
"Never ever entered my mind that it would be someone from this neighborhood," said Hall.
Secrist was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
Dominguez was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
10News learned Secrist lives near Dominguez.
