Man climbs on top of Los Angeles freeway sign, snarling traffic

Posted

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - A man wearing nothing but boxer briefs and sneakers stood on top of a downtown Los Angeles freeway sign Wednesday morning, backing up traffic for hours.

The man climbed on top of the sign above the 110 freeway near Beaudry Avenue about 8 a.m. He put up several protest signs about pollution, KABC reported.

California Highway Patrol officers shut down the southbound lanes of the freeway while they tried to reach the man. Police and firefighters placed inflatable cushions on the highway and extended ladders to him.

Two hours later, the man did a backflip onto the cushions. The man, who has not been identified, appeared unhurt as he was handcuffed and placed into an ambulance.

All lanes were reopened by 10:30 a.m.
